Future Dial Codes

You can reach the Dial codes page by clicking on the Dial codes link on the left sidebar within the Routing box.  From this page, the current dial codes can be downloaded in Microsoft Excel format, and these can be used as a template for preparing future dial codes.  If Dial Codes for future implementation have been defined, then links are offered to download or delete those definitions.  Deleting a Dial Code definition will also delete all Dial Code sets defined for implementation at later dates.

Uploading Dial Codes

A new set of Dial Codes can be uploaded using the Upload Dial Codes section.  The form in this section has two fields:

Excel file location

Press the Browse button and navigate to a locally installed file on your computer.  This is a Microsoft Excel file (2003 or 2007) that you will need to have prepared beforehand.

Date

Select the date on which this new set of Dial Code definitions comes into effect.  The Dial Codes are automatically brought into effect on that date.

There are two buttons on the form.  The Validate button will not upload the Dial Codes to the database, but will check the file for errors and display them so that you may correct them locally.  The Upload button causes new Dial Codes to be uploaded to the database from the file you have selected.  If you upload a file, then all previously uploaded Dial Codes for implementation at later dates will be removed from the database.

Dial Codes for today

The form described above will allow you to upload Dial Codes to be brought into effect from tomorrow onwards.  It is possible to bring dial codes into effect immediately.  To do this, upload the Dial Codes for implementation tomorrow.  When the Dial Codes have been uploaded, tomorrow's date should appear in the list of future Dial Codes.  To the right, there is a link calls Use now.  Clicking this link will bring the dial codes into effect immediately rather than at midnight.

The tariffs in use must contain Country and City names to match the dial codes, and this will not be checked as it would be for future implementations.  New tariff and Dial Code Excel workbooks for customers' CDR Control Panels will not be created.

This is an extreme action, and we recommend against using this feature for routine work.  However, in urgent cases where an incorrect set of Dial Codes has been brought into service, this feature can be used to restore switching capabilities.
