Uploading a tariff

Print this Topic Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

A new tariff can be uploaded using the Tariffs page of the DUAL Softswitch Administration System.  You can reach this page by clicking Tariffs in the left sidebar in the Routing box.  The first section shows the tariffs currently defined.  The second section contains a form from which a tariff can be uploaded.  The tariff must already have been prepared locally as a Microsoft Excel file.

The form in this section has three areas:

Excel file location

Press the Browse button and navigate to a locally installed file on your computer.  This is an Excel file that you will need to have prepared beforehand.

Tariff

For existing tariffs, select the tariff name using the drop down box.
To create a new tariff, enter a unique name for the tariff into the edit box.

Date

Select the date on which this new tariff should come into effect.  If you are defining a new tariff, then this field will be disabled, because the tariff will come into effect immediately.

There are two buttons on the form.  The Validate button will not upload the rates to the database, but will check the file for errors and display them.  The Upload button causes new rates to be uploaded to the database from the file you have selected.

The next page will also validate the entries against the corresponding Dial Codes for the date in question.  If any destinations that are in the tariff that are not defined in the Dial Codes, then those entries will be removed before the tariff is uploaded.  If there are any destinations in the Dial Codes that are not specified in the tariff, then a warning message will be displayed showing the details of the potential error.

Once a tariff has been uploaded, an Excel workbook is generated for your customers to download from their control panel at http://cdr.dualsoftswitch.com/. Any customers assigned to this tariff will receive an automatic email shortly before midnight advising them that a tariff update has been scheduled.
