The Routing check page can be used to check the validity of a number and to find out which carriers are candidates for a call in DUAL Softswitch's Least Cost Routing system. You can reach the Routing check page by clicking on Routing check link in the Routing box on the left sidebar.
The second section of the page displays a form with a Number to check edit box. Enter a telephone number into this box. The number must be in E.164 format; that is, country + number. Do not include an international access code. If future rates or dial codes have been uploaded, a drop down list is shown so that the date for the query can be selected and future routing behaviour can be interrogated.
When the Continue button is pressed, the results of the analysis are displayed:
Dial code analysis
| • | A check is made against the relevant Dial Codes table to query whether the number is valid. |
| • | The length of the number is checked. Number lengths can be defined in the Dial Codes table. |
| • | The country and city (if assigned) are displayed. |
| • | The format in which this number will be shown in call records. This takes account of the length of the country code, which is defined in the Dial Codes table. |
In order for a call to complete successfully, there must also be a corresponding country and city entry in the calling customer's tariff.
Routing check
If the Dial code analysis is successful, the relevant Least Cost Routing tables will be queried. A list of carriers that can accept calls to this number are displayed. They are displayed in the order of their priority, with the highest listed carrier being offered traffic first. Subsequently listed carriers will be offered the traffic using Alternative Routing in the event of call failures.
