H.323 details

Print this Topic Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

This section is displayed for H.323 carriers, and allows the H.323 specific properties to be defined:

IP address

Enter the IP address of the carrier's H.323 equipment.  H.323 destinations cannot be defined as DNS names.

H.323 entity

Select the type of server operated by the carrier.  The two options are:

Gateway: this server accepts SETUP messages without any RAS messaging being necessary.  DUAL Softswitch supports Gateway to Gateway signalling.
Gatekeeper: this is a more complex entity.  It requires registration and Location Request messages before handling calls.  DUAL Softswitch supports Gatekeeper to Gatekeeper signalling.

If you have not been provided with this information by your carrier, select Gateway, because this works in most cases.

Port

The standard H.323 signalling port is 1720 (TCP).  If your carrier's equipment operates on a different port, enter the port number in this field.
